Trademark Registration in Myanmar
I. REQUIREMENTS FOR FILING TRADEMARK IN MYANMAR
i. Full name, address and nationality of the applicant;
ii. Detailed description of goods/services and international class(es).
2. Required documents
i. Trademark specimen (electronic form);
ii. An Original notarized Declaration of Ownership for each application (under our form);
iii. An Original notarized and legalized Power of Attorney (under our form).
i. Language of filing: English
ii. Each trademark application can be applied for one trademark for multi-class.
II. TIME LIMIT
Estimated time for obtaining Trademark Registration is from 04-06 weeks from the filing date.
i. No Trademark Registration Certificate is issued by Registration Office. Registration Office only returns the original documents with the registration number stamped on the documents.
ii. After the registration is completed, Trademark Owners should publish a Cautionary Notice in the local Newspapers/Journal in Myanmar to inform the general public about the registration and claim to ownership and to warn against infringements.
III. VALIDITY TERM
According to current trademark regulations, a Trademark Registration in Myanmar once registered never expires. However, as a practice in Myanmar, Trademark Owner should re-publish a Cautionary Notice in the local daily every 10 years to claim to ownership and to warn against infringements.
